Privacy policy

When the website is accessed, the server processes technically necessary data: IP address, date and time, requested address, amount of data transferred, status code, referrer URL and browser and operating system details (user agent).

Purpose: delivering the website, ensuring stability and security, preventing abuse. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure operation).

Hosting provider: Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. Cloudflare delivers the website through a worldwide server network and protects it against attacks, processing the connection data listed above. A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with Cloudflare (Cloudflare Data Processing Addendum). Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; transfers to the USA rely on the European Commission's adequacy decision (Art. 45 GDPR).

Retention: our application logs are deleted automatically after at most 7 days. Cloudflare stores security data according to its own privacy policy (cloudflare.com/privacypolicy).

The website contains its own cookieless counting feature which, without any third-party services, would only form daily totals (for example how often a page was viewed or a search term found no results). This feature is currently switched off; no counting data is stored.

Before it is switched on, we will extend this policy with its scope, legal basis and retention period.

Favourites, notes, checklists, the emergency plan, the selected region and the list of articles saved for offline use are stored exclusively in your browser's local storage (localStorage). Pages saved for offline use are kept in the browser's Cache Storage; a service worker serves them without a connection.

This data is not transmitted to our server and we cannot see it. You can export or delete it at any time in the notebook, or remove it via your browser settings.

Storage only happens because you explicitly use the respective feature and is strictly necessary for it (§ 165(3) Austrian Telecommunications Act 2021).

Note: anyone with access to your device or browser profile can read this data. Do not store sensitive health data if other people use the device.

When you write to info@survivebetter.com, we process your email address, your name (if given) and the content of your message in order to handle your request. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering requests and in accurate content).

Our mailbox is operated by World4You Internet Services GmbH, Wolfgang-Pauli-Straße 2, 4020 Linz, Austria, as a processor.

Retention: we delete messages once the matter is settled and no statutory retention duty applies, at the latest after 12 months. Content corrections are documented without personal data.

The website's report form currently stores nothing; it points to this email address. Please do not send health data or data about other people.

For the non-public editorial area, a technically necessary session cookie is set after login. Public visitors are not affected.

When you switch language, a cookie “atlas-locale” containing the chosen language (de or en) is stored for up to one year so the website greets you in that language next time. It contains no identifier and is not analysed. Legal basis: § 165(3) TKG 2021 (function explicitly requested by the user).

No products are currently sold and no partner links are used on the website. Before that changes, we will extend this policy with the payment and partner services used, the data processed, the legal bases and the retention periods.

Data is only shared with the processors named above that are required for operation: Cloudflare (hosting, USA, Data Privacy Framework) and World4You (email, Austria). Data is never shared for advertising purposes.

You have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object (Art. 21 GDPR). You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future.
